Worried that her daughter would be taken advantage of, Nichole’s mom restricted her travel. She couldn’t stay over at friend’s houses (especially where men were present) and didn’t like her going past the train tracks. As she grew up, her mom relented, which allowed Nichole to go on two trips that changed her life: one to Point Mallard and another to Six Flags. It created a juxtaposition in her life: it exposed her to the world and showed her she wanted more while also developing a deep love for Ensley and giving herself a need to give back.
