Ashley S. | 1994 | 7 y.o.
Growing up a preacher’s kid, faith had always played an integral role in Ashley’s life; this would culminate in her baptism at age 7 and continue throughout her life.
Faith and worship are not strangers to the Ensley community; it’s hard to walk two blocks without seeing a call to worship from multiple denominations. For some, it was a place of belonging and a sense of identity, for both the individual and the community.
Why did Ashley get baptized: “Growing up I had one side of my family that was religious and the other experienced some things and they later found God. So we were always praying; my mom was a prayer warrior.
So we had this TV and the TV went out and it was the only TV we had in the house. I had heard them pray and get the anointing oil put over people. I was like, let me take this anointing oil and go anoint the TV. So, I put three crosses on top of the TV and said “God, if you real, you gon let this TV work…and I plugged the TV in and the TV worked for the next 3-4 years. And I said okay, I am going to get baptized.
